Although we are partial to summer sun and heat, we can't deny layering is part of the fall fun. This time of year, the weather can be a little fickle. Cool in the mornings and evenings, but warm during the day. Our solution? Lightweight jackets! They work well over t-shirts so you can take it off when you heat up. But, you can also slide them over a sweater when it gets colder and still be comfortable. An absolute win-win. Here's a list of our favorites.
Trench coats are great for fall because they are light enough for layering and are usually water resistant. We love this one from Ann Taylor for the cheetah print, but there are other amazing qualities too. It's got a belt that you can buckle around your waist for definition. We also like that its hip length. That makes it a little more flattering for most heights!
Again, we're thinking about layering, and this bomber from Zara is extra special. The satin fabric is glamorous and can work for both day and night. Pair it with your favorite distressed jeans and ankle boots for an edgy look. You can also throw it over a dress or skirt to give it more interest. Because it's thinner, you can wear it over a chunky sweater and be comfortable!
3. Rain Jacket
Until about November, it's going to be rainy season for most of us across the country. So, it's ideal to have a rain jacket on hand to keep your outfit from melting under all that water. This one from J.Crew is perfect. It's long enough to suit most heights and comes with POCKETS! I know. We died a little from excitement too.
4. Mod Coat
If you live in an area that's already dipping to 50 or below at night, may we suggest this amazing coat from TopShop? We do we love it? Because it comes in this amazing yellow! Talk about adding a little sunshine to your day. It's got clean lines and deep front pockets. You can wear it casually or dress it up for a date night. Either way, you'll be glammin'.
5. Moto Jacket
Everyone should have a moto jacket in their wardrobe! It's got an edgy vibe that works all day, all season. You can find a lot of variations of moto jackets with quilting and zips. We chose this one because it's a lot more classic in style and shape! The jacket sits nicely at the hip which means it won't be too short when you actually need to stay warm. Not to mention it's also made from vegan leather.
6. Denim Jacket
In addition to having a moto jacket, having a denim one on hand is also an excellent idea. We prefer it for the traditional shape, but we don't mind pushing the boat. We're all about color after all! This one from H&M ticks all the boxes for us. Again, it's a lightweight option perfect for layering but comes in this fabulous red. Just picture it with our Red in Rome lip stay! So chic.
